Fireplaces & Chimneys

Custom Fireplaces & Chimneys

Whether it's a stone fireplace anchoring a lakeside great room or a chimney that's been waiting decades for someone to do it right, we build fireplaces and chimneys that are the focal point of the room — and the house.

A custom fireplace is one of the few things in a house that becomes the visual anchor of the room. Get it wrong and it dominates for the wrong reason. Get it right and it elevates everything around it. We've built one for a Lake Norman home that's one of the projects we're proudest of — full custom stone, sized right for the space, with detail at the hearth, surround, and mantel area.

Outdoor fireplaces and fire features have become as common as decks. We build them to handle weather year after year — proper firebrick where it matters, proper drainage, and stone or brick that's chosen for the climate.

On the chimney side, we handle everything from a top-of-chimney patch where a few bricks have failed to a full chimney rebuild where the structure is shifting. We work with proper safety harnesses and ladder protocols on every job, every time. There is no chimney high enough to skip the harness.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Do you build outdoor fireplaces and fire features?

Yes — full outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, and stone-built fire features. We design for weather and for use, with proper firebrick lining and drainage so the structure lasts through Carolina seasons.

Can you rebuild an old chimney that's leaning or cracked?

In most cases, yes. We assess the foundation, the flue, and the structure, then quote either a partial repair (top section, crown, flashing) or a full rebuild depending on what's salvageable. We don't bandage chimneys that need to be rebuilt — we'll tell you straight.

How do you match brick on an older chimney?

We carry samples and work with regional suppliers to find the closest match. For 1950s-1970s brick, the original kilns are often gone but very close matches are usually available. The mortar color and joint profile matter as much as the brick itself — we match all three.

Do you build the firebox or just the surround?

Both. We can install around a manufactured insert, build a traditional masonry firebox with proper firebrick, or coordinate with your hearth specialist on more complex installations.
